A Book About Forgiveness

Ok, so I do read books. That is where me and the average teenager don't always go together. What shall I say, reading books is kinda cool! :D

d

So I was recently offered this book to review titled "How I Forgave My Molester" by Melinda Todd. For a short, easy-to-read book, I was quite impressed with its content. Not only is it well-written, but it gets you very interested in her story of how she learned to forgive. What I love about the book is that it really gets down to the root of the issue, with Scriptural advice on forgiveness. It doesn't leave you feeling like this is a story of someone else, but rather that we all must learn to forgive.

I also loved the fact that the book gives a number of specific Scriptural points through which you can battle unforgiveness. It even provides Scriptures pertaining to the topic that you can print out and place around the house to keep God's Word in front of you.

What's my opinion of the book, then? It is an excellent book, especially if you are dealing with unforgiveness. It is short enough to read in one sitting, and it contains some valuable Scriptural principles on the topic. I highly recommend it! If you want, check out Melinda's website here.

What Lights Your Fire?

So tomorrow is the first day of spring after a long, hard winter! You know what that means? Motocross season is almost here! I am a huge motocross fan and I love riding my dirt bike!

Here are a couple of things that really get me enthusiastic about the time of year:

You know all those presents you got on Christmas that you couldn't use till summer? Well, that's kinda what that second thing is. It's handle-guards for my dirt bike that I got in the middle of winter. :P

So what's something that really gets you excited about this time of year?

Introduction to Metal

Ok, so I know most of you are really skeptical of metal. The metal kind of music, that is. Well, about this time last year, I felt the same way. Roaring to the music just seemed kind of, I don't know, overkill. After all, why can't you just sing to the music? Well, I heard music from a band called Demon Hunter, and I only liked one song: "Not Ready To Die." After listening to it a few dozen times, I ventured to hear the rest of the album...and then the rest of their albums...and then other Christian artists of similar styles. Now, as a metal fanatic, I can tell you that it definitely has an acquired taste.

The thing that I like so much about metal, is that it is highly influential. The lyrics are screamed, making them quite effective in getting to the listeners. Not only that, but Christian metal is an effective outlet for fans of secular metal artists to hear the truth. Of course, I am not supportive of the artists that claim to be Christian without reflecting it in their lyrics.

Now that you've heard my propoganda, here is my favorite song ever! "Not Ready To Die!"

For Your Inner Energy Crave

If you have been paying attention, you probably know of my love for obsession of caffeine. I am a regular at taking energy drinks and other energy products such as energy mints or energy shots. Well, I recently discovered Crave Energy Drink, a caffeine drink mix in powder form. I must admit that the packaging really pulled me in with this one, with its attractive green and black colors (favorites of mine--if you already didn't know that from the theme of my other blog). :)

Crave Box

What's cool about Crave, is that it comes in powder packets that you can easily carry with you while traveling. It's much easier than bringing a can of energy drink with you. You can just mix right in your water bottle!

Crave Packet

You simply mix either part or all of one packet into water to make the drink. If you prefer a strong quality of taste, you can mix with 8 ounces of water. You can also mix with up to 16 ounces for a more diluted taste. I have found 12 ounces to be just about right for my taste preference. The taste of the drink is a bit of a mix of sweet and sour. Because it is not sweetened by sugar (it is sweetened with FOS, or Fructooligosaccharide), it is not overly sweet by any means. It has what I would describe as a lemon/lime taste with a sourness to it. Of my friends who tried it, almost all thought the flavor was superior to other energy drinks. Here is what the drink looks like:

Crave Drink

The packet contains two servings, which I found to give a huge boost when taken at one time (even if you take caffeine regularly). If you don't normally take caffeine, one serving by itself gives a great boost. The entire packet contains slightly more caffeine than a can of Amp Energy Drink.

What's also cool, is that it only has 9 calories per serving! In addition, since it contains practically no sugar, it doesn't give headaches or crashes afterwards (I specifically noticed that). So check out the specifics of the drink:

So, what do I think of Crave Energy Drink? I think it is a great alternative to the energy drinks on the market today, and it is convenient, has a great flavor, and ACTUALLY WORKS! :) I highly recommend it!
